Tulsa, OK —(January 31, 2013) – HoganTaylor, the largest public accounting firm in Northwest Arkansas and Oklahoma, has added two attorneys to its state and local sales and use tax practice (SALT) bringing its number of staff attorneys to three.
Added were Joshua Franks and Ashley Hodges, both honors graduates of the University of Tulsa School of Law.
Franks and Hodges will be responsible for researching legal precedence and statutory language and regulations in assisting corporate clients in SALT defense work. Because state and local sales and use taxes are very complicated, particularly for companies located in different states and conducting business across jurisdictional lines, maintaining compliance is a challenge and can be particularly difficult if a company is audited by a state and a fine and penalties imposed for underpaying, said Tom Smith, HoganTaylor SALT practice leader.
HoganTaylor’s SALT practice also provides a reverse audit service to companies who are looking for clarification about whether they are either overpaying or underpaying state and local taxes, in addition to consulting with clients who have been or are being audited.
Both Franks and Hodges will be consulting with HoganTaylor clients in oil and gas, manufacturing, health care industries.
