The Federal Audit Clearinghouse (FAC) has been shut down due to a security incident. The official statement from the U.S. Department of Census is as follows:
“The U.S. Census Bureau is investigating an IT security incident relating to unauthorized access to non-confidential information on an external system that is not a part of the Census Bureau internal network. Access to the external system has been restricted while our IT forensics team investigates.
Security and data stewardship are integral to the Census Bureau mission. We will remain vigilant in continuing to take every necessary precaution to protect all information.”
Currently the FAC web site is not accessible to make FAC submissions. Currently, there is no indication of when the FAC Web site will be reopened. In the meantime, the FAC will work with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to determine whether any extension provisions will be made.
We will keep you informed of any developments regarding this matter.
